Emelia Hall - Music for the ‘Harry Potter and The Prince’s Tale’ Sequel
A musical score composition for a hypothetical Harry Potter sequel ‘Harry Potter and The Prince’s Tale’ focusing on the character Severus Snape. The musical score uses the original Harry Potter theme as well as the musical themes associated with Snape’s character from the original soundtracks. These are used and manipulated within the score to represent the significant moments of Severus Snape’s past, specifically his youth, falling in love with Lily Potter and the death of Lily Potter.

Santino Game - Slenderman: The Arrival’ Music and Sound Remaster
In 2013, Blue Isle Studios and Parsec Productions release the horror video game ‘Slenderman: The Arrival’. I decided to remaster both music and sound of the game using traits from certain horror scores such as John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’ (1984).

Emma Brice - 'It's time to forget me'
It’s time to forget me responds to Simon Reynolds’ observation that ideas explored in popular culture are regurgitations of past ideas. Therefore, it seems that a reach for nostalgia is ever-present because new ideas are unachievable. Written and composed by Brice, the song ITTFM unpicks and follows a generic formula of the pop song. Layers of live and pre-recorded performances in this video piece rewrite and destroy the structure of the pop song. Brice references the “spectacle” “without spectators” [1] (as noticed by Boris Groys) and places inconsumable content culture content against itself. Live activation of the pre-recorded song attempts to add a newness through digital exposure and intercepting representations of reality.

Jordan Saward - Nathan (2019)
At least fourteen veterans and serving soldiers took their lives during the six weeks this documentary was in production. This is Nathan’s story.
Interviewed several months after the tragic suicide of 39-year-old Nathan Hunt, parents Derek and Maria reveal Nathan’s desire to serve, his struggles with mental health and recount the events leading to his passing.
With an unfolding, sombre narrative, the film quietly pleas for more awareness around PTSD and the help that can prevent it.

Eleanor Ball - Cleansing the Spot
Eleanor Ball's piece entitled 'Cleansing the Spot' is part of her degree show exhibition work, the project of which is titled Spot the Difference. The project is a confessional exploration of a personal memory wherein Ball was inappropriately touched within a bar by a stranger. Although this experience wasn't new for the artist it struck a chord with her that channeled into an investigation into positive and negative spaces. This video performance piece 'Cleansing the Spot' is a ritualistic artwork that aims to wash away the negativity that seems to have stayed within the artifacts of this memory. Ball adopts a cheeky and playful character of this unknown stranger that was part of the memory, using the black morph suit to act as the negative space but also the unsettling anonymity of this person. This character also plays with poker chips in this performance to signify the playing of the odds that happened whilst also stroking the champagne flute highlighting the tenderness and joy they have in succeeding in this interaction. Therefore this cleansing ritual fails within itself as the stranger exists throughout violating the artifacts and leaving the space naked and vulnerable to the elements of its environment.

Music & the Mind (18:15-18:30)

Josh Garner - Perspective
I intend to focus attention on the relationship between minimalistic, repetitive music and introspective visuals. I chose to use minimalistic and repetitive music techniques as I can relate that style of music to the way I think or to the way we think when we are in deep thought. If it not be the ‘way we think’ that I find it similar to, techniques such as hypnotic steady drone-like melodies, sounds gradually evolving and subtle motifs can aid one’s concentration, almost putting them in a meditated state, especially when combined with visuals of an introspective nature. Giving you, the viewer, the ultimate sense of empathy with the media.

Music & Nature (19:00-19:15)

Sami Latif - The Earth, The Sky and The Humans
My aim for this project is to explore the musical themes within nature documentaries and analyse how the audio exemplifies the video’s context. There are certain quintessential links between video clips and their audio which are typically paired together. For example, when demonstrating a tragedy scene, musical aspects tend to include a minor key and dissonance in its harmony. Within this project I wish to create a montage that contains a contrasting link between a video clip and its audio, by doing this I can begin to the explore the significance of music in relation to how its paired image is portrayed.
I wish to channel the notion that natural disasters are only a natural occurrence of the earth running as it should. They are socially labelled as disastrous due to negatively impacting human living, however we choose to damage the earth freely. The sole focus of the montage will be on how the music accompanies each clip in order to change its outgoing perspective.

Music & the Stage (19:15-19:30)

Reece Mowlem - Hamlet Inverted
'Hamlet Inverted' is an experimental adaptation of Act I Scene V of Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', a scene in which the Prince of Denmark is visited by the ghost of his late father. In this piece, we see the interaction from the ghost's perspective, attempting to communicate to Hamlet from the afterlife. However, he cannot speak to his son directly, so instead attempts to convey his message via music through playing piano.
This video gives a flavour of what 'Hamlet Inverted' would be when performed on stage, as well as providing insight into the context behind the piece and the process of replacing dialogue with music.
